We are all called to lead others to Christ using the gifts that he gave us, however some among us are also called to play a role in helping brainstorm, plan, organize and execute events, ministries and apostolates. Does this sound like something you would enjoy? Then you need not wait until you are 18 – all youth who have been confirmed may be considered for leadership team.
What does the Youth Leadership Team do?
The Leadership Team joins the Director and adult volunteers in evaluating the overall vision and goals, as well as making plans for the upcoming year and then assists in implementing and promoting these throughout the year. The bulk of the planning usually occurs within the context of a Leadership Retreat in May or June.
Who can be on Leadership Team?
Any high school student who has been confirmed may apply. Details on the upcoming year will be posted in mid-spring.
What is the structure?
There are currently five different Apostolate Planning Teams (pro-life, evangelism, mercy outreach, activities and faith formation). Students are placed on Apostolate Planning Teams based on their interests and areas of strength. Each team has an adult leader, as well as a youth leader (usually a senior) who presents the Apostolate Planning Team’s ideas to the other team leaders, director and adult leaders.
Service and formation
During the year, those on leadership team serve either as a peer leader for Ignite or Confirmation, or a Youth Core Member for Sparks Middle School Faith and Fun Nights. Click here for details.
