I am Leidy Ruby Rosales born and raised in Tri-Cities, WA. I recently just graduated with my Bachelor’s in Social Work from Heritage University. I have been volunteering at my home parish St. Patrick for about 3 years. I was part of the Youth Ministry, Quincañera, and Youth Retreats. I’ve also had the opportunity to get involved around the community doing service projects with homeless shelters, women shelter, human trafficking victims, and teens homeless shelter. Through my experience in the community I’ve been able to encounter God’s grace.
How I got into involved in youth ministry was through a church friend. She invited me to join the youth ministry volunteer group. I wasn’t too sure of it but I needed community hours so I said yes. As time went on I started to build relationships with the youth and some of their parents. Slowly I started to share my testimony, about how God had been present in my life. As I shared I realized the youth could relate to my journey. Through this, some youth decided to share more in-depth about their life in general. I’d do my best to guiding them to Jesus and sharing tips on praying and bring in Christ in those difficult moments. As I was encountering God in different aspects of my life I reached a point where I needed to stop and take a step back and reflect. I decided to take a year off from school to strengthen my relationship with God. This is how the Holy Spirit brought me to Our Lady Star of the Sea. I’m excited to be able to work with the middle school youth group (Sparks). If you have any questions feel free to stop me and ask away.
